Our Center at Berkeley, CEGA, has been one of the leaders, maybe because we're here in the Bay Area, and there's such a strong CS community

And in both of those cases, the early research-- some was produced out of CEGA, others through our partner organizations-- have helped to move the needle

There are a variety of different folks doing research here, but how do you see CEGA's mission in this?

One is, from the start, we were interdisciplinary, and we brought in technologists, we brought in computer scientists, climate experts as CEGA affiliates, and we actively collaborate with them.

So even though about 2/3 of us are economists, like myself, there's a good chunk of CEGA affiliates in our network who are bringing in new technologies, new tools.

So we've forged a lot of partnerships with institutions in East Africa, West Africa, Bangladesh and basically forge collaborations between CEGA
