But NaNoWriMo exists in part-- I mean in large part-- to awaken people's creativity, and to do-- to be creative for the sake of being creative.

During NaNoWriMo, I never left the world of the book long enough to lose momentum.

doing NaNoWriMo, whatever it is, you're doing it because this idea of creativity and writing is interesting or important to you.

Which NaNoWriMo project have I been most proud of?

We have a camp NaNoWriMo program that happens in April and July, it's a more casual version of NaNoWriMo.

But I do think it's like NaNoWriMo is this great opportunity to make your creativity a priority during the month of November.

seeing some heads nodding here-- your NaNoWriMo dialogue is going to feel, at times, like a remedial language lab tape.

And a lot of people write their NaNoWriMo novels without any intention of publishing them.

And what's great about NaNoWriMo is that we have a staff of eight and a very small budget, so we can't go in to all these 2000 schools,

So it's amazing to me because NaNoWriMo wasn't around when I was a teenager, so I wouldn't even fathom writing a novel.

So that's part of the premise of NaNoWriMo is like, make your creative dreams happen today, and write 50,000 words in November.

So the number one thing that I think is really great about NaNoWriMo is that it lowers your expectations for your writing.

The question was, what sparked me to start NaNoWriMo?

When I first started out, I was NaNoWriMoing, so it was like, plunge right ahead.

And meeting in cafes with his friends also built in-- we're essentially, this is what NaNoWriMo is, it's a community.

So this chapter is actually about improvisational writing, which NaNoWriMo largely is.

If you do that every day, like you did NaNoWriMo, you would build those muscles in your brain.

Or-- So this is a really-- it's tough for me every year to decide what I'm going to do in NaNoWriMo.

I didn't say that about my first novel, partly because it was a NaNoWriMo novel and partly because I was just-- I had no idea what I was doing.

Another nice thing is that we have local regions, so Google has a NaNoWriMo group.
