In 1989, a dig in Alberta, Canada unearthed the cast of a single footprint that appeared to belong to a juvenile tyrannosaurid.
The footprint shows that this dino’s toe was bent underneath the foot, and evidence of injuries like that can be hard to find in the fossil record, which made this a pretty special pawprint.
Unfortunately, when researchers returned the next year to try to excavate it, they couldn’t find it.
