How to pronounce “oed” in English

Oedipus killed Laius. Laius was killed by Oedipus.

Like Oedipus, and some of the Greek stories.

So the OED has it completely wrong.

And so for OED sense five of language or behavior, sense 5A is offensive or objectionable,

And so OED sense 5B is unrestrained, exuberant, effusive, lavish, wholehearted.

It was Laius whom Oedipus killed.

It was Oedipus who killed Laius.

So Freud had the same famous Oedipus complex, where a boy falls in love with his mother and wants to kill his father and everything like that.
