There's an ancient Buddhist sutra called the Avatamsaka Sutra, which is one of my favorite. It's Mahayana Buddhist. It was actually put into written form in fourth, fifth century BCE. And what it is, is this amazing holographic text of how reality is structured.
And it was brought to China by an Indian monk by the name of Bodhidharma. He's the first Chinese patriarch in Mahayana . And so he founded the Chinese Chan.
And then later. around 8th century or so, the Japanese came to China to study Chan because they wanted to further their understanding of Mahayana teachings. And they found that the best way to understand, to penetrate the deeper meaning of the teachings,
