It was like this "That's a giant squid which may or may not exist.I guess there are people that are convinced that it does." But the hyperpolyglot was-- People had anecdotes or folklore about high school teachers whocould speak 18 languages and uncles, or things like that, but no one had ever assessed, "Okay, what can they actually do?"
