But Tijuana was not-- it was a mix.
I was born in Tijuana , so-- Woo!
But in Tijuana , the music school wasn't really that developed yet.
I was always in Tijuana thinking about Mexico.

They still live between Tijuana and San Diego.
San Diego and Tijuana now share an airport terminal.
And then when I moved to Tijuana -- woo!
are the Chinese traffickers in Mexicali and Tijuana , Mexico City.
And coming from being in Tijuana , talking to veterans, they're the same conversations.
We were shepherded through the border into Tijuana .
I wasn't born in Tijuana .
But they finally settled in Tijuana .
So I actually grew up in Tijuana .
Some of them go to school in Tijuana and live in Tijuana .
And I'm not from the Tijuana , but I live in Esenada.

So I was there-- you know when you watch "Narcos Mexico" and they're in Tijuana in the '90s?
And then your book outlines the story of Alan Shepard going to Tijuana for some sort of less than family friendly reasons, which ultimately leads
But he actually found out that it's the Chinese mafia in Tijuana that is paying off the cartel to fight the war for them
So the money's coming from the Chinese traffickers and the Chinese mafia based in Tijuana .
And so I went back to Tijuana , picked up my stuff.
And I think that has to do with the fact that I'm from Tijuana , and I grew up listening to-- I mean,
But can you share with us something that you really like from Tijuana ?
So towns like Juarez, and Tijuana , and so became known as depots or hubs for smuggling people.
They went to Cuba, they went to Tijuana , they went to Paris, they went to London.
Don’t believe what the media says about all these narco wars happening in Tijuana , right now the Tijuana food scene is one of the best food scenes in the world.
Eventually, as I left Mexico and I moved to Tijuana , it was a completely-- it's the first time I met Mexican-Americans.
And late one night, Alan Shepard went over the border into Tijuana with a woman who was not his wife.

It's also, in every sense, culturally-- the way that I think has to do with the fact that I'm from Tijuana but I went to Mexico.
