Some of you weren't even born. Sudan , Somalia-- all these things-- these refugee crises were so protracted, and we haven't dealt with the peace building side of it.And so refugees are just basically-- some of my colleagues call it "warehoused"-- in refugee camps or in cities around the world,
So some 2,892 deaths in that area in 2015. Sudan , also from West Africa, so many flow of migrants, people on the move, coming from the horn, coming from the west up across the Sahara into Libya

And then we started newspapers. Or Sudan . That's great.
For for those of you who are educated in this country, you probably don't know. So Sudan is located in a country called Africa-- or a continent called Africa. But it's a contested-- Nuba Mountains is the contested area between Sudan , which is kind of North Sudan and South Sudan .
But when they're in the negotiation table, they said, oh, let's just move that line this way. And Sudan got screwed. Or I'm sorry, the Nuba Mountains got screwed.
Sudan at some point we were beaten by uh the Arab troop uh especially thenorthern Sudan troop if you see my body now you could see a lot of scars why because of at some point I thought I you know I'm going to die I
Ebola is not yet in in South Sudan , but we must do everything in our preparedness to prevent Ebola from entering South Sudan . But for now, say experts, the focus remains on finally getting ahead of the outbreak in the hardest hit areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
And so I get a cab. And a man from Sudan picks me up. And right away, I can see that this man grew up in a life pathway so much closer to Dolly Parton and Charlie

And when wars drag on as they so frequently do-- if you look at the war in Syria now, it's in its sixth year. The war in Sudan has been, apart from a few moments where it hasn't been as intense, has been going on for many decades now. Other parts of the Middle East, if you look at the eastern Congo where it's nearly 20 years, Somalia where it's multiple decades, as those wars drag on,
They got put in essentially the camp, or the country, that they had been fighting. So the government of Sudan -- I promise this isn't a political-- this isn't a Michael Moore talk, I promise. So the government of Sudan then implemented a classic military approach, which is you bomb, burn, and pillage.

I'm like, I don't know what I'm going to do, or how I'm going do it, but I've got to do something. in the Sudan region.
It's always been a fascination of mine to go there, to go to Iran. So South Sudan gained independence about four years ago, and so I did I did visit South Sudan .
But we're just beginning to see Chinese domestic environmental NGOs trying to hold Chinese firms to count when they go abroad. You see in Sudan -- one of the earliest places where China invested in resources-- the Chinese have tried at least to weaken the Security Council
award um today the John Da Foundation aims to improve the um healthc care situation in South Sudan and with the um founding of the Republic of South Sudan just this week um John's work and his words have even more relevance as his clinics um continue to to gain momentum and to have an impact in South Sudan and

You see kids and the Syrian refugees living in camps, who are becoming increasingly despondent because they don't have opportunity. You see southern Sudanese families who are selling their children into arms groups because they've run out of resources and because they're increasingly desperate.

Try and find some route through Sudan , through Darfur, through the Sahara, into Libya, up onto the coast to Benghazi
Case in point would be Sudan .
And he was involved with a Sudan family.
He's doing so much in Southern Sudan .
He has to walk from Eritrea to Sudan , 225 miles in seven days to save his life, otherwise he's going to get killed or prison by soldiers.
And this guy I'm out to dinner with said, yeah, this guy's amazing. He's this doctor in Sudan in this area called the Nuba Mountains and blah, blah, blah. And we start talking, so I do what every self-respecting human being does at the end of an interesting night.
Who hasn't been educated in the United States? So you guys probably know where Sudan is. For for those of you who are educated in this country, you probably don't know.
They'd been to places like South Sudan and Burma.
