How to pronounce “succor” in English

50 down was-- I was hoping they'd get the S first.And it was clued as, I think, "winter precipitation." I was hoping to succor people into putting "sleet." But that's my favorite puzzle.And I think it kind of messes with the conventions of the puzzle so much, which is what I like.
