In celebration of Women's History Month, we welcome Dr. Sara C. Mednick to discuss her new book, "The Power Of Downstate, Recharging Your Life Using Your Body's Own Restorative Systems." If you're like most people, the relentless daily grind of go, go, go, do, do, do, can run down your energy and deplete your resources.
as a power source and it's a lot easier just to use the gasoline in the car to run that and and produce energy and recharge the battery that way and so I suspect that's the calculation that that goes on and so really it's when the engine's off you've got a chance of competing and that's sort of the smaller scale trickle charger to keep the battery running and maybe a small fan or
after a period of time of no load so it needs to stay on and then the second part is if it runs flat and then is recharged does it automatically turn the USB port back on um and uh that's something we we design into our batteries and the Ada one might do that as well other
They tend to replay events over and over in your minds. and recharging to go back to that focused, sustained work.
So I think it is so important for each and every one of us to have times when you work, but also times when you can recharge your batteries. Because energy is crucial, you know?
You want to spend more time with other people here. This recharges your batteries, right? There's a joy that you feel when you sing.
And the energy density wasn't just low, it also degraded over time. Every time you recharged, it got worse. After fewer than 500 charges, your range would've dropped to about 40 kilometers.
all day even with a lot of big screen use. And it recharges at a respectable 45 watts, which is actually faster than any other previous folding Samsung phone ever... They might have just nailed it!
Like, I'm recharged, I guess, if that makes sense. I feel recharged. Of course. That's great. And I know a big chunk-- of course, you say it all over your book-- is that you want to inspire
But actually, it's OK, you adults. And then they can recharge and be more available to you.
So what is the technology? The technology of recharge is based on a single sentence. We have to teach running water to walk, we have to teach walking water to stand, and we have to teach standing water to percolate.
And sleep is the process which returns the kind of really interesting emotionally resonant memories into your long term memory. And it also recharges that short term memory, allowing you to learn new things. So if you're not sleeping terribly well and it's having an impact on your performance, you might not remember it tomorrow.
Or go ahead and schedule that massage, or acupuncture, or something along those lines. Those are ways to recharge. Because the biggest problem with high achievers-- and I'd be so curious to see what everybody at Google tests outs as in the Power Type plan.
But at the end of the day, you're not going to want to stop to refuel that or recharge it. So this recharging's going to be done at a depot, not at a corner gas station. The beauty of that is it lets us introduce alternatives to oil without having to have 170,000 gas stations.
And here are different aspects of Astrobee. Power systems-- it does recharge.
You went to talk to someone that makes you feel comfortable, or you eat something, that's called conditional happiness. Conditional happiness always recharge each time. Sometimes we are dependent on conditional happiness.
and we recharge our battery.
It allows us to recharge.
step back to recharge but I would argue that there's another benefit to to this
it lets us recharge and become more creative and the key here is when you take a step back from
way to recharge huh I guess it's like how did I find out I guess it's
I need to rear something I I don't have anything that I can like take out of the like a car has a battery but you cannot take a rechargeable device out of the car that has been recharging just by the solar panel it's like it's something that that it's out there all the time Under the Sun so the question is why haven't solar panels
operation from rechargeable batteries at a cost that any laboratory and many individuals could easily justify." Not a technical criterion in there.
You have to keep recharging that battery.
Called it Recharge and it was all around sleep and recharging.
There's a joy that you feel when you sing. And then you're recharged. My daughter goes to a performing arts school called Adda Clevenger up in San Francisco.
Whatever it takes to recharge you.
You have a secondary recharge unit basically available to you at all times.
And this process is reversible. When you apply a voltage to recharge, the extra electrons are stripped from the titanium and pulled back to the anode. The lithium-ions are forced out of the titanium disulfide layers into the electrolyte, and they too migrate to the anode where metallic lithium reforms.
The lithium-ions are forced out of the titanium disulfide layers into the electrolyte, and they too migrate to the anode where metallic lithium reforms. What Whittingham had created here was a rechargeable battery, one that worked reliably cycle after cycle with incredible consistency. I don't normally think about batteries this way, but what they really are is tiny little contained chemical reactions.
And that this then also recharges your batteries in a different way.
You need to set time aside to recharge yourself.
and take some time to recharge on my own-- not because anything bad had necessarily happened at school, but just because being in a classroom,

When we're rested and recharged, that voice doesn't have as much sway over us because we don't identify with it.
And I know that if you recharge your mind and expose yourself to different sites, stimuli of all kinds,
there's something about s rechargeable battery that turns people into liars.
You can win any sales war by recharging yourself.
