How to pronounce “literati” in English

got advanced enough to be introduced to some Spanish literature. The thing that I find remarkable about Spanish Literature versus almost any other language with a major bodyof literature is that it's largely unknown in the English speaking world compared to Russian or French or Italian or German where tremendous amounts of that literature is translatedand sort of known, sort of by people who are not in fact literati. Why is that?
