How to pronounce“kiloparsec”in English

We are about eight kiloparsecs or so from the center of our galaxy.

And this is the inner kiloparsec.

They probe somewhere around a kiloparsec or so out into our Milky Way.

And this is in the inner five kiloparsecs, so that's about this big.

So within about 1 and 1/2 kiloparsecs, we have a great idea as to exactly how our galaxy appears.

anywhere from 200 to potentially 600 kiloparsecs away.

So we're looking at scales of 100 kiloparsecs or so.

We've identified two that are over 200 kiloparsecs and likely some that are probably closer to 300.

Prior to the work that we've been doing, the most distant star was only about 120 kiloparsecs away.
