How to pronounce “kaya” in English

Kayaks, which I liked working with the big kayak companies because they didn't hesitate in sending my boats around the world as part of our agreement.

This is well before Kayak-- long before.

And the idea for Kayak actually came in a conversation between Steve Haffner and one of our investors, Joe Kotler at General Catalyst.

And so Kayak-- I think there were two things we focused on.

And their kayaks that they used resembled the Baffin Island type and not the one typical of western Greenland.

And then kayaking. And of course penguins because penguins.

So think about how Kayak works.

So coffee served with the kaya toast-- that's kind of the ending or a beginning.

It had only been rafted and kayaked one time before.

We would rock climb and kayak and mountain bike and 300, 400, 500-mile races.

When Bill O'Donnell left Kayak, the engineers stood and gave him a standing ovation.

And he was actually when Kayak was sold.

And in 2004 when we created Kayak, there was no one website that had every single flight and every single hotel, like Expedia for example-- and to this day,

And hopefully I will liquidate all my Kayak money for the nonprofits I'm working with now.

And here we went to the logical place to take kayaks, which is in South America, the driest place on Earth-- the high plains of the Altiplano in southern Bolivia,

We had used these tires to drive the kayaks across the Altiplano.

The beauty of Africa and the beauty of the kayaks, obviously, is super quiet, and a lot of big animals here.

And we sailed down there on a sailboat and then kayaked 600 miles down the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.

And I benefited from the fact that I was doing sea kayak expeditions.

So for instance, a kayak-- I was talking about the digital, but you can do it in the sports world.

You know, "kayak," "nurses run." We tried to get a lot of really silly palindromes in there.

And crucially, they lacked kayaks.

And that they-- in part because they lost kayaks.

I've also shot a fair bit of whitewater kayaking.
