How to pronounce “hauer” in English

I was always thinking do you feel like Rutger Hauer and Roy Batty, his character, was actually the hero?

And what I love also about this image is that it came from Rutger Hauer.

I can't imagine that film without Rutger Hauer sort of improvising those last lines.
