George Gershwin was looking for a subject matter to write his great American folk opera.
And George Gershwin, the composer of "Rhapsody in Blue," had a really seamless way of integrating jazz and classical music together.
They sing Gershwin. They sing-- you know, the people are listening to-- there's the Klezmer music.
And everybody thought George Gershwin was going to fly off the handle and get really mad.
But George Gershwin, the inventor, realized, this is going to change music.

And then Gershon said in a fetus it's all one.
Wrote George Gershwin a letter and said, I want to turn this into an opera.
So I created the character of George Gershwin.
And I didn't see the Gershwin show.
So you can think of George Gershwin, who died at the age of 38, not knowing how successful he would become.

And it's initiated from Michael Gershon's work in his book "The Second Brain." And there was two things that really stood out for me.

And so we're here to sort of spread the gospel of Gershwin.
I think that's what Mr. Gershwin's and the Heywards were saying.
And then there was a lot of time spent with our amazing editor, Andy Gersh , editing that down to the 90 minutes
