When the two continents hit, the huge force of compression caused the land to crumple and buckle together, shoving rock upward.

Here, one plate moves up and over another, at a low angle. Megathrust faults can form when two continental plates collide, like in the Himalayas, where the Indian and Eurasian plates are colliding. At about 2,500 km long, the Main Himalayan Thrust is the biggest of its kind, and it’s caused some serious damage in the past.
So in 1974, in Tokyo, Japan, there was a six-year-old half Vietnamese Eurasian who went to leave the country and found that he couldn't because he had no entrance visa.
Interestingly, Nepal expected this to happen. Of course, the country sits right on the two plates, the Indian plate and the Eurasian Plate, where they collide. That's the Himalayas. That's why the Himalayas are there.
