Because if you go into the contemporary science of curiosity, many investigators in the field are still questioning whether we have a good definition of what curiosity really even is. And so if we're at the stage where we don't even know how to define the word, then it calls us to say,
Yeah, exactly. What I found really refreshing about the book is the desire to throw away preconceived notions of what curiosity might be. So for example, I think in traditional conceptions and representations of curiosity, it's tended to be a very individualistic way of looking at it.
And we really think that that misses so much about how curiosity works. Curiosity, for us, is a capacity to connect what I know now to what I want to know, first of all. But also to connect ideas to ideas, facts to facts, perceptions to perceptions, experiences to experiences, people to people, because we're constantly
But really internal, and I think that has limited our ability to understand and facilitate curiosity. Curiosity is something heavily embodied and social. So what I'm really interested in all my work on curiosity, including this book, is to ask, how does curiosity work?
