I took a high-resolution photograph of the pearl in that painting and, hence, could get the mathematical form of the outer boundary, the occluding contour. And we confidently assume that the pearl is cylindrically symmetric, and we can make a computer graphics model of it. You have to do texture mapping.
One of the benefits of using a probabilistic approach is that we can integrate estimates by, in this case, cast shadows where we have a probability and the occluding contours. And you put them together just by multiplying them. And bingo, the light is right at the candle, not in place of the other figures, not outside the frame.
If you look at most big beauty influencers right now, everyone is kind of doing a form of drag makeup. Contouring, you know, like really amazing, amazing blending of like eye shadows-- a lot of that really originates from the drag community. So I think that, frankly, there's a lot of people who don't realize that.
Well, I feel like I can speak to that because I had a pretty bad back injury a few years ago unfortunately from contortion. Um, and and it was an incredible learning process and I know so much more about physical therapy and how to warm up um, and how to cool down afterwards. Um, and it it meant that I took a couple years not doing contortion
but quite apart from his ability to give a tour was the quality and character and contours of his heart just positively golden though the packaging might suggest otherwise the day will never come when I have more
They co-evolve. And so astronomers have used this evidence to say, well, if they evolve together, then this idea of this process of feedback The contour lines you can see there are the observations of a huge sample of galaxies from that Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
It's not like-- 2018, are enough of them going to be able to vote that they change the landscape of politics? Memorizing contours and controls of backseats.
So you can see when we're pushing sort of on the pixel, you can push and hold, and you can measure sort of the lightest finger taps all the way to very, very and contort inside the brain.
And the angle is 150 degrees plus or minus 2, where, throughout, I'm going to measure angles with respect to the horizontal like that. The occluding contour algorithm is based on a branch of computer vision called shape from shading. The brightness in an image, like a photograph, will depend upon the direction of illumination and the normal, the perpendicular,
And I hope you can see the gray contours. Those are contours of equal aposteriori probability. It's most likely the light is at the candle, less likely further out, less likely further out, less likely further out, like a high pressure region on a weather
And look how well they meet at the candle, really quite surprising. Even on the contour on Christ's shin, the computer looks at it and says, ah, the light is in this direction, really quite amazing. And you can use the same maximum likelihood estimation method to say, ah, given all this evidence, it's most likely the light is in the middle,
So it's really magical to see them do these short films and a subject matter like suicide, and bullying, and really deep subjects And we have contortionists.
Done. Just follow the contour.
Primarily, and I hate to say it, but they're easiest to measure, right? We can measure contours, we're pretty good at visual pattern recognition. Here, you see examples of four signature whistles from different dolphins.
friends and family while I showed her the mundane details of substitute teaching in my favorite bands I knew Katie could feel the Contours of my hidden memories like stones beneath a bed sheet but for a while she let me keep the private pain of my unlock layers that summer Katie invited me to spend the weekend with her dad at their
And so what he did was he's got the computer here to print out-- well, actually he's written it out in longhand. But it's a contour map. So each of these two-digit hexadecimal numbers is showing you whether it's a large number or a small number.
So he can explain some of these using his differential equations, and he's using the computer to essentially run contour maps for him of the results from these differential equations.
She spoke specifically of a boy that she had met on the street several years before. He was born so contorted that he could only crawl on his hands and knees. When she started to tell this story, I knew who he was right away, because he actually was very often right outside the ashram.
It was like a contortionist.
You are contortionists of the possible.
And so the contours of this change-- and Don Tapscott talks a lot about this, his argument being the industrial economy is running out of gas.
I'm seeing the contours of this change.
rights movement which really did reshape the contours of American public life.
the way in which the contours of warfare has changed as a result of introduction of new technologies, including drone
But along the outer boundary, or occluding contour, we do. The normal must be perpendicular to the contour and in the plane of the painting. It's not tipping towards us or away.
Here were all these rules of contouring and multicolor and foundation to change the color of your skin,
Done. And then you'll follow the contour.
trying to pick up all the contours in her.
and who is defining the contours of those terms like "patriot" and "terrorists" and "immigrant."
I'm not going to show the contours of the space.
segue into the into the injuries. I I guess I mean you I watched you guys warm up and back backstage and whatnot and you were like stretching and you were contorting and turning yourself inside out and whatever you do and you want to obviously prevent against injuries but like when that happens in the middle of a show or beforehand in rehearsals like
in shaping the timing and the contours of different energy transitions.
I left the small bird contorted on the grass, soft landing place below the window it tried to fly through when
I was a hockey player turned contortionist, turned ballet dancer, turned Broadway performer.
just depends on the bottom contours. That shape the form of the wave.
that - Mike Krahulik: that describe the contours of a business opportunity with some frequency. Sometimes from Nigeria.
And I can't solve it. But if I measure the lightness along the entire contour, then I can. Look at the middle bar.
Here's a photo of Brad and Angelina that was tampered, cut from two different images and Photoshopped together into a single image. And Hany Farid and his colleagues used the occluding contour algorithm on Brad and Angelina and found that the directions were different.
And if you take a set of such of cast shadows, you get this data. And I hope you can see the gray contours. Those are contours of equal aposteriori probability.
And the second game is conforming and potentially contorting or doing something to just feel like, I just need to be OK.
And what we discovered when we were doing our neural network is that some of these signals were very messy. They were just sloppy and we couldn't track the contours of the whistle. So we had to throw them out of our data sets for the neural network, which was not really OK because we
So each of these two-digit hexadecimal numbers is showing you whether it's a large number or a small number. And so what he's done is he's shaded the contour map in three different shadings so that you can see blotches appearing like you might on a Frisian cow, for example. That's what his paper did.
The differences between us are mostly the outer contours and a few internal tweaks.
We have to learn how to describe it and articulate its contours.
it can be a collective force which literally shifts the contours of society and politics and we always hear about
somebody else. Um, yeah, for your mutual safety really. I can um speak to that a bit in contortion which is the the learning process for contortion is just stretching a lot for a really long time which can be painful. Um but there there's is a really beautiful metaphor
Stylistic innovations, contorted story lines, or none, exotic or genderless pronouns, internal inconsistencies,
And your motor neurons will cause your face to contort into a smile before you can stop yourself, because you already think you're smiling.
They said, all right, we don't know what the normal is throughout a face or any object. But along the outer boundary, or occluding contour, we do. The normal must be perpendicular to the contour and in the plane of the painting.
Well, also, what about the light information along those outer boundaries or occluding contours, like the knee? Well, we tried using the occluding contour on other paintings by artists of the time, mannerist artists of the time, like Caravaggio and others, Georges de la Tour, and in in Los Angeles.
