It's not by choice. Is choreography an organized activity?
So tell me what experience you have in those worlds and how it convergenced into music now. So choreography was something that was really easy for me when I was growing up. At NYU, I was a step master of the step team.
So sometimes again, as different characters, you might mess up a little bit and they'd be doing it right and so you'd watch them in the front row doing your choreography because they adore the show. Because of what Tony said, the joy is just insanely infectious when you come to the show.
Yes, perfectly said. So there's also such seamless storytelling with the music, the lyrics, and the dance. So the choreography -- Jennifer, question's for you. This seems like no easy task to be doing the choreography for a show of this energy and this caliber.
But, yeah, to just see an older lady have a little bit of fun and excitement, that's one of the nice things that this musical has given us. Do you align your choreography with the set design?
Yeah. The trick is, though, what you do inadvertently, though, is make it endearing instead of irritating. All the choreography was Sherrie Silver.
There was a time when I was teaching wedding choreography for two years full-time. And in wedding choreography -- now, obviously, South Asian weddings tend to be very elaborate and very extravagant and just go all out. You've got several dance sequences in the wedding choreographed routine.
And he was like, sure. And as far as choreography is concerned, first of all, they have like-- isn't it three?

We didn't break choreography or anything.
And in the meantime, I also worked with a group called Cubic Zirconia, doing all their tour choreography and video choreography . I'm in two of their videos, if you want to check them out, and also doing choreography for this other group called Telephone. So I've done a lot of different choreography for other people.
I know people do choreography to your music.
But what the choreography thing what was really cool was I had all these friends who are part of a young Hollywood organization called Young Artists United.
Because it's choreography . Well, there's no spin in that.
How did you approach planning for this show? How did you plan the choreography ? And what's your process like?
So a lot of the choreography feels like you're watching a Céline Dion music video, which, by the way, go rewatch those if you haven't in a long time
Like, "What? The dancing! And how good is the choreography and the way that they move." Oh, yeah. And that's kind of how we started to research about James's-- And last thing before James tells us, also, that show is the most honest show I've ever
And there's some really great clips of you guys dancing together that were just super-fun to watch. Did you have input in the choreography ? Let's talk about some of how you guys created this world.
Why don't we come up with choreography and come up with music?
But when I present the idea of choreography they're kind of just like, uh.
But this idea in the choreography that we all kind of have mics just everywhere, just who's singing what and how they're doing that
It's all done and conveyed through choreography .
And yet they execute that choreography all differently.
Sometimes I'll not change the choreography , but just find how it works on their bodies and keeping it exciting and passionate from each performer.
So how did you bring that unique choreography to the role?
And I think the misconception is that choreography is just dance, like real dance, like classical dance that we're used to seeing in like "West Side Story" would
little bit more um I don't even want to say relevant because the old show would still be relevant. I think well the way Andy Blankenbeller who is our choreography described it in the first week of rehearsals is he wanted the audience to feel like they were getting into a warm bath so that the show was familiar so we didn't hit them with like some new production that was completely
putting a lot of artistry into the choreography . How do you do that creative design in the team? Is it more the coach who guides us, or do you reach a
subjective understanding. How are you listening while telling? How are you doing the choreography and doing it with great articulation and great, like, acumen and skill, using all that ability that you've been working on for all those years to make sure your thumb's not like that but like that?
