In the course of the book, I interviewed an anthropologist about the significance of puns, and he had studied these long pun duals in Tzotzil, which is a Mayan dialect in the Chiapas Highlands of Mexico. And they have these long ritual punning duals in which they go back and forth, back and forth for hours, and you
We give off free radicals. It has fiber like chia flax.
And we get those from our greens. We get them from chia seeds, hemp seeds, a little bit from walnuts, but they still have a balance of omega-6's, which is the fat that we get whenever we have processed foods.
And we teach people in our school how to do that. We've had our chia seeds.
But during that time it was basically the same menu wherever you went and it never changed. So being in Chiang Mai and being introduced to a dish that was local, seasonal, regional, was really kind of shocking.
So right around March, April, they start coming up in the forest and people-- in Chiang Mai, I lived in a small village about 20 kilometers north of Chiang Mai. And during het-top season, if you try to go to the market in the village, as soon as the het-top start popping up,
So "Arrival," amazing. That was my baseball bat moment. The Ted Chiang short story, "Story of Your Life" is so impactful, so beautiful. But it's so tied up in language and the written word and the way that he sort of-- I don't know who's read it, but go and read it, it's awesome.
And you can do everything you could do in New York, pretty much. So I moved to Chiang Mai, which was a city of 100,000 people at that time. A town, basically, in northern Thailand.

In that industry at that time, that was an untapped talent pool. Or Jay Chiat, Chiat-Day-- a big advertising agency-- Chiat-Day is the agency that did the 1984 Apple ad that's kind of legendary during the Super Bowl. And if you've watched "Mad Men," you know what's missing at the top of advertising agencies in the 1960s and '70s and '80s.
I'm Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor. And I feel very honored and really delighted to be moderating this panel of these very inspiring women. I'm going to start by introducing them very briefly.

So I just kind of looked around on the internet to see if there was anybody who was making it. I couldn't find anybody in Chiang Mai area that actually made it. It's kind of-- I think it's more kind of like something that people do at home.
It actually started with Jay Chiat and Chiat/Day advertising.
And I will hold up Ted Chiang as the best science fiction author.
And it was put there by Chiang Kai-shek as a sort of our rallying cry to tell Taiwanese citizens
sitting outside and you're drinking this Chianti, it's the most brilliant wine that you've ever consumed. So, I think having a context really helps.
That's the reason that you're here. That's the reason we want you here, and we're gonna be gentle with you guys." I mean, if you give us something -- which I think we all realize that Michael Chiarello gave them a bunch of stuff -- -- especially toward the end. And that they just didn't edit that out. Because he delivered it to them on a silver platter more than once.
And it's usually like health benefits of chia seeds or something like that.
Let's say, chia seeds or maca, and then suddenly people are like, we can't actually produce that.
And a lot of people, even with raw food, are eating a lot of seeds, and there are omega-6's in seeds, other than, as you said, hemp and chia and flax. So that's why raw fooders like their flax crackers and they like their chia , because it's giving us that brain power.
And we teach people in our school how to do that. And also, we put chia seed.
And we teach people in our school how to do that. And Friendly Fats is just a combination of flax and chia and hemp, and other kinds of high omega-3 ground seeds.

And she grew up in a very poor family up near Chiang Mai.
