We had ballet, breakdancing, hip-hop-- twerking even.

And it was ballet for a while, but it's always been rooted in performance.

But very quickly, talking about school, obviously, you said gifted, so you probably were great in school.You were in ballet.You were in dance.

Our collaborative brings in professional ballet dancers from all around the country that dance from San Francisco Ballet to American Ballet Theaterto New York City Ballet.So it's really great to be able to have an opportunity for them to create a tighter sense of community amongst the black dancers at various different companies

I saw my first ballet four or five years ago.

It was revolutionary. And when I was thinking about how to do this, when they said, do you want to do this, I said, if we don't run straighttoward the ballet, instead of being afraid of the ballet, we can never possibly succeed.Because our goal is to have an audience, even if they don't know the movie, come in and be surprised about what they see.
