Born and raised between Beirut, Lebanon, and Mashta al-Helu, Syria, she knows the Mediterranean as only a well-traveled native can. Anissa is the author of numerous award-winning cookbooks, including "Feast-- Food of the Islamic World," "Sweet Middle East," "Levant," "Lebanese Cuisine," and many more.
She was listed in 2013 in the "Arabian Business" magazine as one of the 100 most influential Arab women, as well as on the 500 most influential Arabs. Anissa's first book, "Lebanese Cuisine" was published just over 25 years ago. And her purpose for writing it, despite her being an art consultant, was to record her mother's recipes, not only for herself, but for the younger generation
