What to do? Essentially, it takes the ideas from Shakespeare, making "all the world a stage," and delivering truth on that and putting it into practice. They do site-specific performances and installations throughout the Bay Area, anything from the story of the "Odyssey on Angel Island" to "Hamlet on Alcatraz" to, most recently, "Macbeth" being performed on Fort Point.
So if it's a huge island, we're moving all around the island, up and down levels, and in and out of buildings and outdoor spaces. At the fortress right now, you're not covering as much mileage as you would be on Alcatraz or Angel Island, but you're going up and down these steep stairways, stone corridors, the four stories of the fortress itself.
and seeing all of these stages and all of these places that have been transformed. And that's one of my favorite pieces of feedback from audience members is that they say, Alcatraz is now Denmark forever. Angel Island is now Greece and Ithaca and the home of Odysseus's trials and tribulations.
